These are the Most Common Questions about Bridesmaids’ Dresses
In my years as a wedding photographer, I have been asked many times by brides for advice on choosing their wedding colors and bridesmaid dresses.
I have often been asked questions such as:
How can I pick the dresses for my bridesmaids?
What colour should I choose for my bridesmaid dress?
Do you know of any particular colour that does well in photographs?
Are there any colors to be avoided?
One that I find especially funny is:
Do you remember any bridesmaid dresses that were a disaster?
(Shhhh… The answer to the last question is yes)
This blog post will attempt to answer the following questions. It will shed light on the unknown and tell you all that I have learned from other brides who went through the exact same thing.

These are some tips and tricks I have learned while photographing Bridal Parties with my couples.
How to choose bridesmaid gowns
Which year is it that you are getting married?
This can help narrow down the number of options for your bridesmaids dresses.
What flowers are in season? These colors are most likely to be used in bridal bouquets.
CHOOSING THE COLOURS BY SEASON
When you think about the four seasons, what wedding colors do you associate with? Reds, golds and emeralds greens are my favourites. I also think of royal blues in Winter. Yellows and pastel palettes are great in spring. Particularly striking can be the bright colours of purples and pink bridesmaid dresses in the summer sun. The last thing is that Autumn is the time for auburn and oranges, reds, and dark greens.
It is always a good idea to take into account the season before you choose your bridesmaid gown.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT ACCESSORIES and ACCOUTREMENTS
The unpredictable Irish weather can make it difficult to keep your bridesmaids warm on the big day. This is especially true if you are having a winter wedding or want to take outdoor photographs.
Many weddings have seen gorgeous faux-fur boleros and cropped jackets. I even saw stylish wraps that were used to match bridesmaid gowns. These accessories can look very elegant in final wedding photos.
DECIDING DRESS LENGTH
Consider the season and the feel of your wedding when deciding the length of the Bridesmaid Dresses. Long dresses are great for Christmas. On a hot summer’s day, shorter dresses may be more appropriate.
THINK MOBILITY!
It’s your job as a bridesmaid to take care of you on your big day. They will need to make sure your veil is perfect, keep your train clean, and fix any minor issues.
It’s a good idea to ensure that their bridesmaids feel comfortable in the gown. Your wedding dress will be fixed by them.
You won’t be able to use a beautiful bridesmaid gown, even one that isn’t very practical, as the bride. !
DIFFERENT TYPES OF SUITING
How can you make one bridesmaid gown fit all? It’s not an easy task.
Another alternative is to have the brides choose one color, and then have their bridesmaids wear different styles. This allows your bridesmaids each to choose the style that best suits their body, which keeps everyone happy.
HOW ABOUT DIFFERENT COLORINGS?
Although you may like to have your bridesmaids wear different colours, I suggest that they all stick with the same colour palette. Perhaps all your bridesmaids wear purple but they’re wearing different shades to make it easy for them to be identified as your bridesmaids.
Personal preference is for the bride to choose a color that matches the theme of the wedding. It’s lovely to have your bridesmaids wear the same colour as the invites and flowers.
It is important for your bridesmaids feel confident and happy in their dresses and to have fun on your special day.

Planning for your wedding? It’s best to plan ahead!
According to bridal shops designer bridesmaid dresses can take anywhere from 2 to 6 months to arrive. It’s important to consider this when planning your wedding. They also suggest that you allow at least one month for delivery to ensure that there are no unexpected changes to your order.
Consider your bridesmaids’ body types and styles
Each of us is unique, and each one comes in different sizes and shapes. We all have our individual styles. Smart Brides suggests that when choosing a gown for your bridesmaids you select a style that looks great on all of them. You have a greater chance of each dress arriving with a consistent colour and texture if you order them all at once.
