John Gwynne Books in Order

John Gwynne is an award-winning British (but born in Singapore) author of a fantasy series, and also a Viking actor! He was a lecturer and student at Brighton University, he’s been in a rock and roll group, playing the double bass, toured across the USA and was a resident of Canada for a while.

He is married to a child (and numerous canines) He lives within Eastbourne, East Sussex, operating a small business with his family revitalizing antique furniture.

Gwynne is most well-known by his “The Faithful and The fallen” series, and his “Of Blood and Bone” series. His most recent collection was The Bloodsworn Saga.

I. Faithful and The Fallen Reading Order

The epic fantasy series has its roots in Banished Lands, a place with a bloody past in which massive armies of giants and men engaged in combat and where the ground is smouldering with the blood of their hearts.

He’s been through a lot, suffered loss of beloved ones, and sought refuge from the dark. He will not run further. He has witnessed the face of evil and has made his sights on battling it. But how do he do it?
Wrath (2016) The events are advancing to their climax at the Banished Lands, as the conflict escalates to new levels. Corban is being held captive by the giants of war who are riding huge bears into combat. His Warband has split, Corban must make new allies to stay alive. But is he able to join forces with rival factions of giants in war? In some way, he has to protect himself from the threat Nathair is a symbol of.

II. Of Blood & Bone Series in Order

The story is set in the same universe that was the setting of Faithful as well as the Fallen trio, this follow-up occurs 100 years after the conclusion of Wrath.

A Time of Dread (2018) A warrior angel race known as the Ben-Elim have once defeated an enormous demon hoard. Now , they control the Banished areas, yet their peace is enforced with brutality. To the south of them, the hotheaded Riv is eager to join Ben-Elim’s peacekeeping unit, but she uncovers a sinister secret. The west is where the gigantic Sig examines the sightings of demons and uncovers evidence of an uprising, as well as black magic. In the north, which is snowy, Drem, a trapper discovers mutilated bodies in the forest. A prey or something more sinister?

A Time of Blood (2019) As the demon forces grow and expand, they send out a massive force to destroy the stronghold of angels. Much like heroes of the past, Drem, Riv, and the Bright Star’s soldiers have to fight for their lives and protect their home. But will the light prevail even as the darkness is rising?

An Time of Courage (2020) The demon-king Asroth has been released from his iron prison and the entire Banished Lands stands on the edge of dominance. With the Ben-Elim destroyed and beaten, half-breed Riv and a handful of friends must find a way of striking at the forces of demons.

III. Bloodsworn – John Gwynne books in order

Set in a world inspired by Norse that is brimming with magic, myth and bloody vengeance Bloodsworn can be described as a sweeping fantasy story.
